Interesting stats. I’ve also seen quick results.

There are 2 kinds of marketers using Twitter. You, I, many others, I think are doing it right. The relationship is the most important. Interaction is paramount.

Then there are some big names who simply try to market to their flocks. I suspect they’re failing with that technique because they tend to stop tweeting after awhile.

Too bad for them. Great for us. Twitter’s great and I hope it maintains its pristine pleasantness. If it gets oversaturated with heavy-handed direct marketing its aura will change.

I’m relatively new to my niche. I’m using Twitter to build relationships which can ultimately result in a customer base.

My goal is to provide free quality content with no links. I’m using roughly 80% content and 20% personal stuff. They can always click on my website in my profile box.

I need to show people that I am an expert in my niche before I start to sell something. On Twitter, someone can ask me a question and I can answer them and it seems more personal in my opinion.

Twitter is all about relationships. It’s a fantastic place to network. I’ve created a product due to a discussion on Twitter. I regularly correspond with a number of fellow marketers on Twitter. I hunt down my graphics artist on Twitter.

It’s also a place where I can give my followers good information — tools or websites I find online, the great Internet radio station I recently discovered, etc. It’s also where I can give occasional notices of my own blog posts or newly uploaded videos. Anything I feel will be useful to my followers, as long as I DON’T ABUSE their trust.

I don’t think of Twitter as a marketing tool. I think of it as a communications tool.

I’ve gotten to really like Twitter. Simple to use, messages are short & sweet and so far, as Dr. Todd mentioned above, it hasn’t been slammed with hard core sales pitches so far.

I’ve learned quite a bit just following those short “tweets”.

Hope it stays this way.

I signed up yesterday and results thus far are not too thrilling. MyBlogLog only is tailgating me there.

The big questions is:

Was this traffic converting?

Like Kevin Riley said, Twitter is more about building that relationship with your subscribers, clients, and business partners.

And with all web 2.0 traffic generation strategies (like YouTube, Digg, Twitter), they usually don’t convert as well as other traditional methods like Adwords and Article Marketing.

I’ve found that Twitter is better suited as an idea source than a marketing source. Yes, you can follow hundreds of people and many of them will follow you. But I am taking a different route and following only a few, “listening” and learning. IMO, Twitter will be bigger than Facebook because of the people that are buying in to it.
