Here’s a thread in the forum I just stumbled across:

Google Thread

I’m sorry, but I have to disagree on that. The Google era is FAR from over. They dominated for the past 10 years, and they will dominate for the next 10 years. Right now, I see nobody coming even near Google. My prediction is that it’s going to be at least another 5-10 years before we see another player coming even close to Google, let alone take over it.

Come on, cuil was just a complete disaster. Complete joke. Just look at the search results. I don’t even see it overtaking ask.com. And searchme, yes, it does have the fancy itunes coverflow rip-off visual look, but the speed is painfully slow and I don’t see it going anywhere. Plus, I don’t see how they are capable of updating those images of websites everyday if they are changing everyday. Maybe because its still in beta mode and they’ve got something up their sleeves which is going to surprise the entire industry.

And you can say there’s a third player, mahalo. To be honest, in my opinion, it’s probably got more chance than cuil or searchme. But, I have a feeling its probably going to become more of a wikipedia.

You have to remember that Google does more than just providing search results - google checkout, google earth, google maps, adsense/adwords, analytics, chrome, youtube, blogger, orkut, google trends etc. It seems that they are rolling out new features every single day… just crazy. Plus, look at the offline things they’re doing. They’ve just released Android which perhaps could take over iPhone (making no predicitions on that). And if you been to San Fransisco, the wireless network there is just completely dominated by Google and allows super-targeted advertsing. So probably by the time somebody catches up with Google in 5 years time, Google is probably already another 5 years ahead…

It’s easy to say Google is falling, but I’m sorry to say it’s not coming anytime soon.

By now, you’ve probably seen the new Microsoft “I’m a PC” ads in which they try to counterattack the stereotypes of PCs made by the Mac ads. If not, do a youtube search and you’ll find them.

Well, according to Gizmodo.com, it turned out that the ads were creating using a mac… (what an irony)]

I might get my head torn off by The Ballmer for posting this “I’m a PC” bit of trivia today, but the irony is too great to pass up. Turns out that phase two of the “I’m a PC ” advertising counterattack against Apple was… created on a Mac. If Apple was smart, and I think they are, they’d have another Hodgeman ad making fun of this produced and in the can yesterday.

The offending evidence was metadata found in the images of the PC user featured on the “I’m a PC” web site. The data exposed the fact that the images were produced using Macs running Adobe Creative Suite 3.

So Lehman Brothers just filed bankcrupt.

Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy Monday and Merrill Lynch announced a rescue sale in a series of dramas in the US financial system which hit European stocks as soon as trading began.

The stunning fall of Lehman Brothers, one of the highest profile investment institutions, came after a frantic weekend marking a dangerous new chapter in the financial crisis sparked by failings in the subprime home-loan market.

And rumors has it AIG is next…

AIG asked the Federal Reserve for a $40 billion bridge loan after rejecting an offer from J.C. Flowers & Co. that would have given the buyout firm an option to acquire the whole company, the New York Times said, citing an unidentified person. AIG may get access to the Fed’s borrowing window in an “extreme liquidity scare”

It’s already desperately selling their assets, so there must be something going on. Things are going insane. I can’t imagine being in a world without AIG…
