Over the summer, I’ve been spending most of my efforts learning iOS development. It’s been a fascinating experience and have come to appreciate just how powerful the iOS SDK framework really is. It’s why I strongly believe that it’s still going to take a while before HTML5/web applications will catch up to the native experience.
As part of my learning experience, one of the first apps I’ve built is called TaskMob, which is a simple and elegant to-do list. It just got released on the AppStore today (be sure to give it a try and let me know what you think
)
I actually built TaskMob back in July and never intended to launch on the App Store. But a few weeks ago, I decided why not just launch the app for fun. So I decided to polish the app up a bit with a slick user interface.
The app itself is pretty simple – it’s definitely not one of those power-user task managers with complicated user interfaces and features. Instead, it’s just a simple and lightweight to do list for the average-joe like myself.
TaskMob is free so be sure to give it a try by going to the AppStore. Click here to download

PS – I’m currently working on developing a much larger and ambitious iPhone app which I hope to get it done by October. So stay tuned for that.

It’s been more than 8 months since I began on BuzzBlaze – and, today, I’m pleased to announce that we’re finally ready to showcase our product to the public!
For those of you who don’t know, BuzzBlaze is a social news aggregation website that allows users to discover and share content online. We want to redefine the way people consume media online by providing the best news reading experience on the internet – on one elegant interface.
Unlike many other social news readers (or RSS readers), we’ve built BuzzBlaze to be inherently social – we want to empower people to be content curators and allow people to easily find out what their friends are reading.
Along with my co-founder Tony Chen, we have worked extremely hard to get to this stage. It’s been a long journey but it’s only the beginning. We’ve already begun developing Version 2.0 and have greater things to come that we can’t wait to show you!
Over the coming weeks, we’ll begin rolling out private beta invites. There are still some minor bugs (hence, beta) and we hope this transition will help iron these out.
But rather than having to sign up on the waiting list, I’ve decided to give out exclusive invites – just to my subscribers. You can sign up through this link:

I’ve also attached more screenshots below for you guys to check out. Enjoy:

As you may know, I’m currently working on launching a social news aggregation website called BuzzBlaze that’s going to change the way we think of RSS feeds.
We’re *very* close to finishing the final prototype. So in the mean time, here’s a sneak peak…

For the past four years, I’ve had the privilege to network and work with some of the coolest and biggest names in the industry. I’ve gone through a truly life-changing experience with my internet marketing endeavors, having opened doors to tons of opportunities that I otherwise would never had.
Today, I’m announcing that I’ve decided to leave the internet marketing industry.
The truth is, having been around for four years, I’ve lost my passion in the internet marketing niche as it has become increasingly polluted. In fact, I lost my passion a long time ago – I really haven’t done anything significant in the internet marketing field ever since I sold TheUniversityKid.com back in January. I’ve seen the way the internet marketing industry works – it’s like a sneaky little circle – and it’s just not something I envision myself doing for the rest of my life.
But I think it’s time for me to move on, away from ebooks, info products and coaching programs – this whole “guru” business. Instead, I’m shifting my focus more towards the the technological and media side of the web – developing web startups for more mainstream audience.
Therefore, I’m taking down all of my online properties (except for eMillions - since that is a book) as well as my subscriber lists. I’l be deleting my autoresponder and will no longer send out email broadcasts, promoting some internet marketing product launch. Instead, I’ll be scaling everything down to my blog for the latest articles which you can stay updated via my RSS feed. The redesign of my website is a representation of my shift of focus from info products to technology.
I just want to make it clear – I am not quitting. I’m simply “starting again” in another area of online entrepreneurship. Sure, I’ll continue to adopt internet marketing strategies and post my thoughts about entrepreneurship, online businesses and web trends – but just with more of a technological focus. It’s just that I will no longer be involved with the internet marketing industry of product launches, affiliate marketing and list building.
I’ll be attending Stanford University this fall and committing the next four years of my life to Silicon Valley. My first stab at the technology startup industry is with BuzzBlaze – a social news aggregation website due to be released this September. It’s more of an experiment than an actual “business” as I get prepared for college.
I appreciate your care and understanding and wish every one of you great success in your future ventures. There’s definitely a sense of nostalgia and I may occasionally check back on what’s happening in the IM world. I hope you stick around by subscribing to the RSS feed, following me on Twitter or becoming a fan on Facebook to stay updated with this new chapter of my entrepreneurial journey.
It’s official.
I’ve acquired TheUniversityKid.com – a blog about young entrepreneurship and internet marketing. The amount was somewhere in the $x,xxx range (I’m sure you would be able to find the exact amount by doing a bit of research online) and felt it was one of the best ones I’ve made.
The previous owner, Jason Pereira (who I met up with back in January in Hong Kong), has done an awesome job with this blog and it’s just a shame he wasn’t able to continue with it due to his hectic schedule in University. When he offered it to me, the price was simply too good to turn it down. Being a young entrepreneur myself, it made perfect sense to take over a young entrepreneur blog.
But like I said before, I’m currently in the middle of revision for exams, courseworks and all that stuff, so I’ve asked my friend Josh (and a few others) to help me out and he’ll be doing a lot of the blogging in the intial weeks. Hopefully that will ease my burden.
I have big plans for TUK. Watch out
Today, I interviewed Alexander Kintis, founder of a new social networking site called Beating Addiction.
1. How did you first got into the internet?
A long time ago, I remember my mother had a computer that had a 14.4 baud modem and had access to Prodigy. I remember using it from time to time for various different things. A while after that, I remember using AOL – I believe it was around the time 2.0 was out.
2. What does your company do? And why did you shift your focus?
The company, Kinal Corp, was initially incorporated to provide professional web development services to various clients. The focus was shifted after I had a great idea of combining a social networking concept with an actual purpose. The idea of Beating Addiction was born and, fast forward in time, it can be found at www.BeatingAddiction.com
3. Tell us about your main project Beating Addiction. What is it all about?
Beating Addiction is a website where people can go to overcome an addiction to anything. Many people know and consider alcohol, gambling, and other commonly categorized addictions as “serious” however others like shopping, coffee, World of Warcraft, Facebook, cats, aren’t. I disagree. Anything can be addicting and there should be an outlet or center where people can go to and seek help and find information.
The site offers a complete social network – similar but not as in-depth and functional as Facebook or MySpace – where people can find more information on an addiction, find similar people who added that addiction to their profile, and speak to one another and get advice and information on what helped them beat or, at least, begin their road to recovery and curbing and stopping their addiction. They can become a supporter of one another – or colloquially known as “friends” –, they can join support groups, they can create journal entries, they can leave comments, etc. They can also find information on different facilities where they may go to seek professional help and care if they wish. Additionally, members can be as public or as private as they like.
4. What inspired to start this site?
In early 2005, I saw how powerful and loyal members were of social networks – such as a Facebook and Myspace – but there wasn’t any real purpose to it other than getting people together, networking, and being a “place for friends”. So I had the idea of a social network approach with a purpose and combined it with the addiction recovery idea and Beating Addiction was and is the end result.
5. What makes Beating Addiction different to other social networking sites?
It’s a lot more than just a social networking site and although it is 2009 now, when the site was initially released at the end of 2005 (and then left alone for about 2 years and then upgraded) the social network aspect of the site had an actual purpose to it unlike many of the other networks at the time.
6. Who is Beating Addiction for?
Anyone that is addicted to anything.
Anyone who has knowledge of any kind of addiction and they feel that they would like to contribute their knowledge and help others.
Facilities and professional individuals that wish to offer their professional services to members and visitors.
7. How do you plan on promoting it and getting the word out for people to start using it?
There are many different ways of which a few will require funding.
SEO. The site has information on all addictions and so anyone looking for information on those addictions and how to overcome them; for example, when searching a search engine, people will be linked to the addiction’s profile page.
Speaking to blog authors – such as yourself – about the website and having them do write-ups about it so their readership gets wind of the new site. Also to those that have a vision of how well the site and idea is and can become.
Adwords, celebrity endorsements, news coverage, press releases, and other routes.
8. What are your future plans for Beating Addiction?
That’s really tough to say because what I envision now may and will change with time due to various factors and variables.
9. Where do you envision Beating Addiction to be at in a couple of years?
I would say a big network/community of individuals that are contributing content and information and helping one another. Also facilities that are a part of the community and their services available for interested individuals. Again, it’s all really hard to say, wish, envision, and speculate because a couple of years is a lot of time.
Thank you very much Stanley for the interview questions. I hope to be able to speak to you again sometime soon and that you are successful on your journey of entrepreneurship. Your story of “making it” is a great one as well and I wish you continued success.
