Tracking Your Ads
Tracking Your Ads - by Stanley Tang
Lots of experimenting needs to be done in order to find the very best and most effective advertisement for your business. Messing around with the look of your ad and trying different locations to place you advertisement are two great places to begin.
Change around the copy
Switch around the wording on your ad. Just change a few words around can have a huge effect on how your advertisement is perceived. Try testing out a few different versions of your ad to see which one gets the best results.
Change the look
Try out different fonts, styles and colors. Try putting emphasis on different words in your ad by change the font size, font colors or even putting words in italics. Adding a border is also something that can be done to spruce up an advertisement.
Try a different Layout
Try rearranging the set up of your ad to see if it looks better a different way. A testimonial or two or a couple more links may be just the thing your ad needs.
Try different Placements
Keep try of the response you get from where you are placing your ads. One website may generate 1000 clicks for you while you may only get 50 clicks from another site. This is a great way to see where your advertising money is best spent.
There are four reasons that you should track your ads:
1. It’ll save you money because you will know what avenues will produce the most profit.
2. You’ll maximize your profit. By knowing the best places to place your advertisements you are going to be helping to ensure the most profit for your business.
3. You’ll figure out which advertisements work the best for you.
4. You’ll figure out what advertising methods work and which methods are not so good for business.
To be able to track what kind of returns you are getting for your investments you are going to need to keep track of the following:
1. How many unique visitors are you gaining from your advertising efforts?
2. What are the sales numbers from each ad or sale promotion?
3. Which advertisement is generating the most income for your business?
4. What is your cost per click or per sale for each promotion you run?
5. Follow what the click to sale ratio is telling you about the quality of website visitors that you are getting.
6. What is your return on investment for each advertising campaign that you run.
You can also track the traffic you get from things like forum posting and banner ads. Some methods may work well while others will not produce such great results. Since only a small portion of your competitors is tracking their traffic information you are really gaining an advantage. By knowing what works and what doesn’t you’ll really be saving yourself time and money by not bothering with useless advertising.
